Well, it was a HOT weekend! As Pastor Pat Abell led us in prayer, our Lord showed up and put on a full display for WV#146! I know you are like me and so thankful to have these weekends up and running. I want to offer my personal thanks to the servants that had to overcome some obstacles and shook off the remaining rust from our pandemic related lapse. We have a new location and time for Candles worship and a new prayer vigil capacity. We have some small adjustments to make to prepare for the Fall Walks. Let’s pray together that the Holy Spirit will guide us along the way!

Welcome to our fifteen newest Community members! It was so wonderful to see and hear the outpouring of love, and stories of forgiveness and self-awareness. You are loved! Let our loving God speak to you in a new way. Your response to “What am I going to do about it?” will most likely change as you have time to reflect on His calling.

I want to impress upon you that you can share any of your experiences with anyone! You will not diminish the experiences of those that follow you!

Our sister and friend Carrie Hanscom was announced and anointed as the WV#148 WLD at Closing! It is always an exciting time for the Community. It is another one of those “it just keeps getting better” moments of surprise. Please keep Carrie and Tim Duhan, the WV#147 WLD, lifted in prayer for discernment, wisdom and well being as the Board of Directors helps them to complete team selection and formation. Please do the work and listen to the Holy Spirit’s nudges in identifying candidate Pilgrims. Do you know or see someone that might need spiritual growth for church leadership? Keep your eyes, ears, and hearts open and He will guide you.

I would like to welcome and thank Pastor John Unger and Keith Rauch for stepping up to help fill in gaps on our Board of Directors. We envision them helping with broader areas that need some attention such as Community educational sessions, further introduction of the Upper Room’s Emmaus manual for a more consistent application and experience for our weekend events, and targeted training for our members. Hopefully this will continue our mission to develop your church – His church leadership and help all to grow in grace and discipleship.

Please stay connected to one another. Join in Reunion or Accountability Groups, and if you feel the need to have a more local group, please talk with your brothers and sisters to see if there is interest and ask our Board of Directors for help in starting one. Go to our “Connect” menu item and send us a note.

I hope to see many of you at the next Gathering on June 11th. We will offer 4th Day training at 4pm for the new community members or any members that have missed it in the past. All are welcome, even if you want a refresher.

DeColores and Blessings,

Steve Gray
Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia Emmaus Community Lay Director.
