Welcome to the revised Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia Walk to Emmaus Community website! This site is a great move ahead in reengaging the community and continuing our 4th Day Walk with Christ.

My name is Steve Gray. I worship at Round Hill UMC, Winchester, Va., I walked on WV #129, and I sat at the table of Luke.

I am truly humbled to serve this year, as your Community Lay Director for the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia Walk to Emmaus Community! We have many new officers and committee chairs that make up our governing board this year. They will shortly make brief bios available so that you can get to know them. There names and contact information are available under the “About” menu item on the site.

I am very pleased to announce that this Spring 2022, we will be resuming our men’s and women’s Spring Walks. The men’s walk is scheduled for April 21-24, 2022, and the women’s walk is on for May 19-22, 2022. Tom Swift will be the men’s Weekend Lay Director and Marsha O’Roke will serve as the women’s Weekend Lay Director. Is it so exciting to have community members answer the call to serve on these teams! And more exciting to see fresh Pilgrim applications being received and processed. Please engage your churches and spread the word about these Walks. Consider sponsoring Pilgrims and get their applications in.

Conte Yates is serving as our Communications Chairman and is working on an updated newsletter that will allow board members to submit articles for publication. We are anticipating the distribution of our first newsletter by the end of February. If you have comments or content to contribute, please send Conte a note.

I encourage you to get engaged, get reenergized to meet the challenges for our Community and lead others to this ministry. Please support our Weekend events: Sponsor’s Hour, Candles, and Closing. I am very excited to be a part of this amazing movement we call Emmaus! I look forward to meeting you and hope to see you at our Gatherings and events!

DeColores and Blessings,

Steve Gray, Community Lay Director
